Infectious Disease
The Mitchell County Public Health Department provides disease investigation and follow-up for communicable diseases reported to the Iowa Health & Human Services by local health providers. We work to protect and preserve the health and safety of Mitchell County residents by doing disease surveillance and education about infectious diseases, reportable communicable disease investigation and outbreaks, foodborne illnesses, and more. Some common ones we see are E. coli, Cryptosporidiosis, and Campylobacteriosis.
If you have ever been diagnosed with a reportable infection, you may receive a call from our office to answer some questions as we do our disease investigation. Call Mitchell County Public Health at 641-832-3500 with any questions.
