Mitchell County Public Health Commemorates Mental Health Awareness This May

As May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, Mitchell County Public Health is proud to join the nationwide movement to raise awareness, decrease the stigma, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.

This year’s theme, "Turn awareness into action," reminds us that we need to take action for ourselves as well as others around us. Mental health can’t wait. Taking action for our personal mental well-being by setting boundaries, reaching out for support, or practicing self-care can make a lasting difference. In May, prioritize yourself, explore the resources that can help you build resilience, manage challenges, and thrive.

May 15th, we encourage everyone to make a statement and show your support for Mental Health Awareness Month by wearing your favorite green clothes!

We will be hosting a Mental Health Awareness Walk on May 15th as well. We will be meeting at our office 415 Pleasant St. in Osage at 12:00 pm!

Mental health affects 1 in 5 adults. The month of May is an opportunity to spark conversations, educate our communities, and create a safe environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. We encourage everyone to check in with themselves and those around you! No one should feel alone.
